FAQ & Troubleshooting
Version 1.6 works with
Party Poker, Empire Poker and Ultimate Bet. In addition, all poker sites
that use the same software as one of those are supported (for example, InterTops and MultiPoker use the same software as PartyPoker). Additional
sites will be added based on user preferences; please email
support@holdem-winner.com to cast your vote!

No Hands
Holdem, like most new applications, requires the presence of Microsoft’s
.NET framework in order to run. The .NET framework is already built in
Windows 2003 or newer. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP there is a
good chance you have it already, if not your can download it from the
Microsoft Download Center or by pasting the following link to your browser:
http://www.holdem-winner.com/Files/dotnetfx.exe
Make
sure that you have entered your screen names in File|Settings and that the
case and spelling is identical to your actual login name.
If the problem persists
please contact
support@holdem-winner.com.
Make sure the “Dealer” drop box set to "Everything"
(PartyPoker) or that you are in "Full Chat Mode" (Ultimate Bet)
Make sure that
your hole cards are in the poker screen are not covered by another window (No
Hands Holdem needs to be able to “see” them!)
Try
closing the Game Info window, click “Look Again” on the table finder, and open a
new Game Info for your table.
If the
problem persists please contact
support@holdem-winner.com.
Make sure that your hole cards are in the
poker screen are not covered by another window (No Hands Holdem needs to
be able to “see” them!)
If No Hands Holdem is still unable to recognize
the card it sees, it will ask you for help via the “Unrecognized Card”
dialog. When presented with that dialog, please type in the correct card in
the format As
Once
you help No Hands Holdem recognize an unknown card it stores it in its
memory and never asks again.
- The “seat selection” boxes are grayed out for
Ultimate Bet tables
There
is no use for the seat selection boxes in Ultimate Bet tables for a very
simple reason: the player always appears in the same seat, namely the
bottom center of the screen!
- What about the “mini view” of Ultimate Bet tables?
The
“mini view” is not supported (as of version 1.5), you need to always
have the table on “full view” in order for No Hands Holdem to be able to
read game information.
- The “bet cost” and “pot size to justify call”
fields show nothing – why?
Both
these fields become available only when you are facing a Fold/Call/Raise
decision in the poker window (that is the only time these numbers make
sense anyway!)
- Why are the opponent balances N/A in tournament
games?
This
is really a situation where these numbers are very easy for the online
player to track, since everybody starts the tournament with the same
standard amount (1000 or 800 in Party Poker). Every time you see someone
holding 1200 chips in a $50/$5 tournament, for example, you
automatically know that he/she is up by 200.
On the
other hand, it would be rather complicated for No Hands Holdem to keep
track of tournament balances (because of frequent all-in and side pot
situations), therefore we chose to conserve that computational power for
more useful operations!
- How good is the provided strategy?
The
question can be answered in two parts.
(a) Obviously, when it comes to pre-flop play you
can use the Strategy Editor to create or edit any strategy that you
believe best fits your game (poker books and web sites are a good source
for pre-flop strategies).
(b) The post-flop portion of the strategy is not
editable yet (See next item) but will be in future releases. In any
case, the current combination that uses the “Basic Strategy” for
pre-flop and the built-in post-flop has been tested at $1/$2 tables of
Party Poker and has been found to win around 2 Big Bets / hour (over
several thousands of hands, there may be some short-term variance of
course). This means that by following the recommendations exactly as
given, a player will realize a positive expected value at a low-limit
10-player game.In addition, a player is always encouraged to improve on
that by using some judgment depending on specific circumstances that the
computer is not aware of; in other words, if you have a good reason to
believe that an opponent has (or does not have) the hand he represents
then you need to ignore the recommendation and act accordingly!
- What features should I expect to see in future
versions of No Hands Holdem?
Features
that are already scheduled for a subsequent release are:
-
Improvements in the built-in strategy so that it can handle subtle
situations better
-
Statistics for each supported poker site to judge “fairness” (for
example, what percentage of boards are paired and how that compares to the
statistical average)
-
Extended Strategy Editor so that it allows customization of the post-flop
play in addition to the pre-flop
-
Ability to play in fully automated mode (no human interaction)
You have ideas about great new features
that you would like to see in future versions? Please do not hesitate to
write at
info@holdem-winner.com!
- Are there any privacy issues?
Unlike other applications, No Hands Hold'em
does not communicate any information to any external site or process. This
can be easily verified by using a network monitoring tool (such as a
"packet sniffer"). Using No Hands Hold'em does not have any effect on the
player's privacy in any way.
- Is this illegal? Do the poker sites have any
problem with it?
Of
course not! Any human player with super-fast calculating ability and an
infinite memory (to remember every action other players take) would be
doing the same thing, if he could, on his own. Actually, you can argue
that development of these abilities is, among other things, what makes
some Texas Hold'em players better than others!
All supported poker sites are aware of the
existence of our software and have no problem with it whatsoever.
NOTE: As of November 2005, Party Poker and its affiliated sites (Empire
Poker etc) started maintaining a list of banned software programs, based on their
latest interpretation of what constitutes "cheating" in an online game (the
list can be found on the PartyPoker web site). Our software is not in that
list and is not expected to ever be included, for the reasons explained
above, a fact that reassures our users about its legality on an ongoing
basis .
Locate and delete the file "c:\Program
Files\HoldemSoft\settings.xml", then start Holdem Winner again.
